In 1624, the Dutch arrived in Tainan, Taiwan, establishing trade outposts and forming their center of power. The filming location of this video is the historic Fort Zeelandia, a symbol of that era.

到了1661年，中國明朝將領鄭成功帶領軍隊攻進台灣，成功驅逐了荷蘭人並奪取了熱蘭遮城。然而，鄭成功在次年即去世，隨後中國的清朝將他塑造為「忠義」的象徵。而在日治時期，鄭成功被賦予日本血統的身份，用以合理化日本對台灣的統治。

By 1661, Zheng Chenggong, a military leader from China’s Ming Dynasty, launched an invasion into Taiwan. He successfully expelled the Dutch and took control of Fort Zeelandia. However, Zheng Chenggong passed away the following year, and the subsequent Qing Dynasty of China shaped his image as an epitome of ‘loyalty and righteousness’. During the Japanese colonial period, Zheng Chenggong was purported to have Japanese ancestry, a claim used to legitimize Japan’s rule over Taiwan.

1949年，撤離中國大陸到台灣的國民黨因拒絕承認中國共產黨的正統地位則將鄭成功視為代表「立足台灣、反攻大陸」的象徵。儘管鄭成功僅在台灣生活了不到一年多的時間，我們卻為他建造了廟宇，尊奉他為神祇……………..。

In 1949, the Nationalist Party (KMT) which retreated from mainland China to Taiwan refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the Communist Party of China. They symbolized Zheng Chenggong as representing ‘rooting in Taiwan, counterattacking the mainland’. Despite Zheng Chenggong only living in Taiwan for just over a year, we built temples for him and venerated him as a deity. This highlights his significant role in the history and culture of Taiwan……………..
